Independent adventures There are enthusiastic business people in the area who are helping to develop the regional character and who have created unique attractions.

Ea’s Design in Sörbyn creates fashion accessories using home-made tin wire and Swarowski crystal, which are on sale in our souvenir shop. Another very special attraction is Annette’s period village store, where you can also get up close to reindeer and forest Sámi culture. At Nestors Café and Diversehandel in Överstbyn, there is a cross between antique shop, flea-market, café and kiosk, where there are both home-baked cakes and buns and exciting finds. In Gunnarsbyn there is one of the biggest Fair Trade shops in Sweden, started and run by Gunnarsbyn Parish.

The forests and wetland offer a vast array of mushrooms and berries. The keen berry picker will find blueberries, lingonberries, cloudberries, arctic brambles and wild raspberries in late summer and autumn. The mushroom population is dominated by bolete species such as Birch bolete and cep, as well as chanterelles and morels for determined searchers.
